We decided to publish this update because there have been quite a few rumors going around, and we think it\u2019s time to tell you what is really happening here.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
When we arrived, we found that the hotel was without local electricity<\/strong>. The staff immediately provided us with a generator, but there was a small problem\u2026 the voltage never went above 170 volts<\/strong>! \ud83d\ude33<\/p>\n\n\n\n The local power company technicians arrived quickly and promptly fixed the fault. Problem solved\u2026 or so we thought! \ud83d\ude05<\/p>\n\n\n\n To our great surprise, we discovered that this is actually the normal situation here<\/strong>: the local mains voltage is only around 180\u2013190 volts maximum<\/strong> and simply doesn\u2019t go any higher.<\/p>\n\n\n\n So\u2026 time for another generator!<\/strong> \ud83d\udd0c<\/p>\n\n\n\n Unfortunately, this generator isn\u2019t exactly a powerhouse, and it cannot handle the entire hotel at the same time. That meant another solution was needed.<\/p>\n\n\n\n The technical team stepped in once again and, with great professionalism and in a very short time, built a dedicated power line specifically for our radio stations.<\/strong> \ud83d\udc4f\u26a1<\/p>\n\n\n\n So now we have a rather unusual routine: approximately every four hours<\/strong>, we have to stop briefly to allow the generators to be refuelled.<\/p>\n\n\n\n It\u2019s certainly not the easiest setup, but everything is working, the team here has been incredible, and most importantly\u2026<\/p>\n\n\n\n \ud83d\udce1 WE ARE ON AIR!<\/strong> \ud83d\udce1<\/p>\n\n\n\n The adventure continues \u2014 one generator, one refill and one QSO at a time! \ud83d\ude09<\/p>\n\n\n\n Stay tuned\u2026 and see you on the bands!<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n 73!<\/p>\n\n\n\n <\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":" We decided to publish this update because there have been quite a few rumors going around, and we think it\u2019s time to tell you what is really happening here.
